Vespers is the evening prayer service in the liturgies of the canonical hours. The word comes from the Greek εσπερινός and its Latin equivalent vesper, meaning "evening."
Divine Service, (From the German 'Gottesdienst,' that is "God serving us") is the name that Lutherans give to the order of worship that includes the forgiveness of sins, readings of scripture, prayers, a sermon, and distribution of our Lord's Body and Blood in Holy Communion.
